Rumple Memorial Presbyterian Church will host their 5^th Annual Artisan Festival on Saturday, October 2, 2010 from 9:00am until 12 noon. This yearly community fundraiser features the sale of arts and crafts created by friends and members of Rumple, foods for sale such as soups, pot pies, and baked goods such as cakes, pies, and cookies. A silent auction will be held featuring a variety of great items and services. There will also be a raffle held for a wonderful barbeque dinner for 16 people prepared by Web Alexander, a Rumple Memorial member and Blowing Rock resident. Web is well-known for making the best barbeque around. Be sure to purchase your raffle ticket; you don’t want to miss your chance for this great meal!

The theme of this years festival is “Help Us Ensure That No Child In The High Country Is Hungry”. In keeping with this theme, all net proceeds from the festival will be donated to Blowing Rock Cares. Blowing Rock Cares was established in October 2009. This group of caring local citizens makes donations of groceries, clothing, and shoes to families in need in our area. They also assist occasionally with the cost of gas, rent and utilities. The service operates from a home base located in Blowing Rock Elementary School. Although assistance is not limited to families of Blowing Rock School students, it is important to remember that there is a definite need for help in our area, as 21% of Blowing Rock School students are eligible to receive free or reduced price lunches.

Supporting this worthy cause by purchasing beautifully handcrafted items and wonderful food is a great way to spend a beautiful fall Saturday in Blowing Rock.
